Current state of affairs

As of this blogging, I am presently working on THE LINE, HYPERSONIC, and BLOOD IN THE SKY as well as random other writings. I tend to write whatever I feel drawn or close to on a particular day. I appreciate being able to do that while I’m self-publishing and not having to answer to someone holding a paycheck over my head (so to speak, ha).  It’s nice having the freedom to write when and as you please in this way.

All of that said, I have been coming up with a loose schedule of sorts for myself so as to create some sort of sense of an organizational system. I’m the first to admit that I’ve never been good with always following a schedule more than I had to (oh, is my ADHD showing now?), but we all need a bit of comformity in our lives I think. That’s not to say that I always like to admit that, but it’s true.

THE LINE has seemingly taken shotgun the last couple of weeks here, as Jessi (my main character for those who have yet to read the series) has been at the forefront of my thoughts. I haven’t really said much about the future of the book anywhere, but series artist Eric Gravel has moved on to other projects and friend and awesome artist Derrick Fish (http://www.dandyandcompany.com) has taken over drawing duties as of #4. Originally, he planned to jump on board as of issue #5, but just like the road of life and it’s sometimes crazy twists and turns, plans changed. Anywho, I am excited about this and can’t wait for readers to see what he’s been doing with the book.

More writing updates soon!

So, what happened to Nano?

Job loss and having to move back to Florida happened basically.  I was all gung ho about writing “Blood in the Sky” when my former boss sprung the “your job is going to be gone” thing at me.  That said, November 2008’s Nanowrimo came to a screeching halt. I had to deal with the insanity of life and it’s curveballs.

“Blood in the Sky” is being worked on, it’s my novel “baby” and will get completed. I’ve got a lot invested into it, including hours upon hours of research,  so it’s a work in progress. 🙂

2009!

Yes, another blog I let gather cobwebs and dust. Sorry about that. This is and will be the blog for my writing musings again. Please stay tuned!

Nanowrimo update

So, it’s day 4 of nanowrimo 2008. I’m now at about 4300 words which means, I’ve got some catch up to do today.  Shouldn’t be a problem though.  I plan on having 6700 words by the end of the day.  🙂  That said, I’m off to type my little fingers off!

Blood in the Sky

I have a working title for my nano novel! It’s “Blood in the Sky,” which is a take on a few aspects of the story itself.  There are a few other possible titles floating around in my head, so we’ll see what happens after November! 🙂

Murder story

Presently, I’m working on research for my nano novel that I’ll be starting November 1st. It’s about a murder that occurred in 1936 here in Asheville. Not sure what angle I’m going to take on it yet exactly, whether I’m going to write a non-fiction or fiction story though. I am enjoying the research process on this one. More soon!

Work, work, work

Besides the 9 to 5 (which really is more like 7:30-6),  I’m starting to write my ass off this month. Presently, I’m working on THE LINE and HYPERSONIC as well as a couple other new things. The plan is to get things back on track so that in November, I can concentrate on National Novel Writing Month. I had a blast last year doing the event, so I’m definitely back in this year. In fact, I’m still working on the novel I started in 2007. I will be finishing it and if all goes well, I’ll try to get a publisher to pick it up. But alas, that is probably a year away or thereabouts.

Anyway, THE LINE #4 and #5 will be out in early 2009. While I would love to put both out for Megacon, it will likely not happen due to financial restrictions. However, it will be out soon after the con for sure. HYPERSONIC #1 will finally premiere at Megacon 2009 as well. Chris McCarver and I have been working on HYPERSONIC for about 3 years now, so it will be a huge great thing to see the first issue hit at the con. I know I’m very much looking forward to it. 🙂

All-ages book

Working on a project I’m doing with Derrick Fish. It’s an all-ages gaming sort of story. It’s still in the newborn stages, so once we’ve got something concrete to show off, I’ll post here. I’m having a really fun time with it so far though. 🙂

RangerChic Productions!

Announcing my new imprint, RangerChic Productions. All of my comics and any writing work I will be doing will be under this new name.  This will allow my website, www.rangerchic.com to be even more linked to not only myself but to the work itself.

Hey look, it’s another blog!

While I have had, and still do have my blog on blogger, this is going to be the new locale for project and writing updates and what have you.

After having an insane last few months and finally escaping the state of the Mouse, my writing and life is beginning a new chapter.  In short, I feel invigorated.  🙂

In a little more detail for those whose interest is piqued, I lived in Florida most of my life. While I was born in Long Island, New York, I grew up in the Sunshine State. That’s not necesssarily out of choice mind you, when you’re a kid you just do as your parents tell you and go with the flow of the mighty river.  So, after living down in Florida for so long, I started yearning to move out. Finally, that happened this past June and I moved up here to North Carolina after falling in love with Asheville during my visit in April.

So, stay tuned to this address on the www for all sorts of stuff soon!
